It’s likely that you have, seeing as how Bec has been an integral part of our company for nearly 14 years.
Beginning as a Sales Assistant responsible for assisting Sales Reps, she is now responsible for advising customers on logistics for a large range of different commodities, from tiles to apparel.
Over the length of her career at Stockwells, she has gained a wealth of experience, becoming an expert on everything from finding the best shipping rates to understanding complex patterns.
Bec finds her position as Sales & Office Manager very fulfilling and says it allows her to release her inner chatterbox.
“My favourite part of my role is dealing with and speaking to customers. Without speaking I would probably die.”
You can understand how she builds such a strong rapport with her clients.
She is also heavily involved with mentoring the next generation of junior staff at Stockwell International.
She offers a thoughtful and supportive mentorship style that she adopted from her Director, Angela Gambell.
“Angela taught me exactly what I’m mentoring my guys with now.
Being able to teach mentees to think outside of the box and find out what is actually happening beneath the surface.
And that it’s about being able to understand what the customer is talking about. Just because they haven’t said something doesn’t mean you shouldn’t look into it.
Look for different and more cost-effective solutions and provide the best outcome for the customer.”
When it comes to mentoring, it’s evident that Bec has a natural flair for the job.
For up and coming Sales & Office Managers in the Logistics business, Bec has this advice:
“Take the time to listen to customers and what they want because at the end of the day it’s their supply chain.
Be thoughtful and caring, but also be assertive, when as the expert, you know you can do what’s best for them.”
Moving forward at Stockwells, Bec hopes to continue growing in her role and guiding junior staff members.
