Protected Industrial Action – Patrick Terminals – Perth, Brisbane & Sydney

Stockwell International has been advised the Patricks Terminals in Perth, Sydney and Brisbane have been served with Protected Industrial Action by the Maritine Union of Australia. The Terminals will undergo a stoppage of work during a period of time outlined on the Patrick’s notice below. 

Perth Terminal
 
Issue: Notice of Protected Industrial Action at Patrick – Fremantle Terminal
Short Description: Patrick Terminals have been served with further “Protected Industrial Action (PIA)” notifications from the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA).

Details of this action at Fremantle Terminal is noted below:

** Monday to Friday stoppages of 1 hour on each shift at 0400, 1200, 2000hrs.
Starting 1200hrs Monday 11 October 2021, ceasing Friday 2300 22 October 2021.

This action is in addition to the current ban on the allocation of employees during certain roster phases and will continue to limit the availability of labour to conduct stevedoring and road operations.

Patrick Terminals has been actively working towards a solution with the MUA that was fair and reasonable for all parties and we are disappointed in the MUA’s approach in taking PIA at this stage in the discussions.

Our key priority is to minimise the impact on our customers and the critical Australian supply chain. We will maintain a high level of communication with you in relation to any impact.
Issue Impact: ** Monday to Friday stoppages of 1 hour on each shift at 0400, 1200, 2000hrs.

Please note no VBS slots will be issued in affected zones and zones immediately prior will be restricted.
Any trucks not actioned prior to stoppages can remain on site and will be actioned upon recommencement of operations.

Brisbane Terminal
 

  • A stoppage of work of 24-hours duration commencing at 2300 on Wednesday 13 October 2021.
  • A ban on the working of overtime for 24 hours commencing at 2300 on Thursday 14 October 2021.
  • A ban on the working of shift extensions for 24 hours commencing at 2300 on Thursday 14 October 2021.
  • A ban on the performance of upgrades and/or work in higher levels for 24 hours commencing at 2300 on Thursday 14 October 2021.
  • A ban on attending for work on days an employee is rostered as “off/avail” for 24 hours commencing at 2300 on Thursday 14 October 2021.

Sydney Terminal

  • A ban on the performance of overtime commencing at 10:00pm on Friday 15 October 2021 through to 10:00pm Sunday 17 October 2021.
  • A ban on the performance of shift extensions commencing at 10:00pm on Friday 15 October 2021 through to 10:00pm Sunday 17 October 2021.
  • A ban on the performance of upgrades and/or work in higher levels commencing at 10:00pm on Friday 15 October 2021 through to 10:00pm Sunday 17 October 2021.

Typhoon Kompasu hit the Philippines heads towards the South China Coast

At least nine people have been killed and sixteen are missing due to floods and landslides as typhoon Kompasu hits the Philippines.

Typhoon Kompasu is now heading towards China as Hong Kong faces another shut down under a possible No. 8 typhoon warning signal as the second major storm in just days threatens the city.

Due to the strong winds the transport department announced three inter-island routes would be halted: Peng Chau-Mui Wo-Chi Ma Wan-Cheung Chau, Discovery Bay-Mui Wo, and Tuen Mun-Tung Chung-Sha Lo Wan-Tai O.

Shenzhen’s Yantian port, one of the world’s busiest container terminals, temporarily suspended some services, including container pick up and drop off. It is not clear when operations would resume.
