Temporary Disaster Levy

The heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding across the Eastern States of Australia is causing significant disruptions to key transport corridors between the Eastern States, Australian Capital Territory, Northern Territory, South Australia and Tasmania, and Western Australia.

The addition of the freight train derailment in West Geelong on Monday 14 November, has now unfortunately resulted in the effective temporary suspension of all rail freight into and out of Western Australia. All rail lines in/out of the state are either acutely impacted or completely closed.

Stockwell International would like clients to be aware that due to this weather event, we are witnessing compounding knock-on impacts and congestion across the entire road network. This is due to the need to circumvent flooding-related road disruptions and the need to re-route rail freight via road where practicable.

We predict track closures until at least the end of November; however, it is too soon to tell when the network will be reopened, and key transport corridors will return to normal.

Due to this, Stockwell International would like clients to be aware that carriers are starting to introduce a levy due to the current state of availability.

Due to its nature, delays and congestion are predicted and we appreciate your understanding and patience during this time. Stockwell International will continue to keep you updated with any changes that may occur.
