Stockwells joins Greenfleet for 2025 Planting Day

Stockwells joins Greenfleet for 2025 Planting Day

Stockwells’ ESG commitments are integral to our culture, company values, and long-term goals. That’s why we were thrilled to participate in Greenfleet’s annual planting day, joining forces to make a tangible impact. Our client Creador joined us too, making the experience even more meaningful.

Over the course of the day, we helped plant 1,200 trees at the Lucas Heights conservation site. It was an achievement that reflects both our dedication to sustainability and the power of collaborative action.

Q: For those who haven’t attended a planting day before, can you walk us through the day?

A: We arrived at the site, then got registered with the Greenfleet team and enjoyed some morning tea.

Then we watched a demonstration of how to plant the trees with the Sutherland Shire Council. They walked us through the three different steps to plant a tree. They also told us details about the type of trees we would be planting and how they would benefit the ecosystem. Everything we planted was native to the local environment.

That was a really inspiring start to the day. After that, we were able to get our hands dirty and start planting. Greenfleet did a great job at making the process feel easy, while also teaching us so much about the native flora.

Q: Stockwells attended the day alongside your client, Creador. How did this collaboration come about?

A: Stockwells and Creador have been working closely together for about five or six months now. As the relationship grew, we realised we shared common values—particularly around sustainability.

Creador, being in the joinery business, are very mindful about what happens at the end of a product’s lifecycle, like how packaging is recycled and how materials are managed responsibly.

They’re also focused on ensuring their wider supply chain is as sustainable as possible, which can be challenging if you’re not actively digging into the details.

The Greenfleet collaboration really began during a casual lunch, where Anthony shared Creador’s sustainability goals and I spoke about Stockwells’ partnerships. He was really interested in how we approach ESG, and since then, we’ve taken that alignment further. We’ve now signed an agreement to support Creador with future sustainability initiatives, which is a really exciting step for both of us.

Stockwells and Creador continue their strong partnership.

Q: What role does this planting day play in Stockwells’ wider ESG journey?

A: The planting day is really important because it brings our broader ESG efforts together in a tangible way. While we all try to make an impact in our personal lives, corporate initiatives like this allow us to contribute meaningfully on a larger scale.

For Stockwells, it reinforces our commitment to sustainability and climate action — particularly in managing our CO₂ emissions from operations like our trucking fleet. It’s a chance to step back, see the bigger picture, and actively give back to the environment.

Q: Did you learn anything new about the local environment or biodiversity during the day?

A: Yes! The area is home to native wallabies. Greenfleet told us a story about how after last year’s Planting Day, the wallabies loved the new trees a little too much. They ran through and ate them straight away, which meant many didn’t survive to maturity.

This year, the team fenced off the area to give the trees time to take root and grow. It was really interesting to see how a small adjustment like that can make such a big difference for local biodiversity.

Q: Can you share a highlight of the experience?

A: The biggest highlight was seeing so many organisations from different industries come together for a common goal, and then being able to see the tangible impact of our work. Planting 60 trees myself, and then learning that collectively we planted over 1,200, was incredible.

It was also really inspiring to see everyone take time out of their busy schedules to give back and make a difference together.

Greenfleet’s 2025 Planting Day was a reminder of the impact we can achieve when businesses come together with shared values and a common purpose. For Stockwells, it reinforced that ESG is not just about policies, but about people, collaboration, and tangible action.

We’re proud to have contributed to restoring local biodiversity, supporting climate action, and building stronger partnerships along the way.
