Stockwell International News Alert 27th July 2022

Sydney Empty Container Congestion Update

To our valued clients,
ย
As a result of recent weather events that have continued from last week into this week, empty container parks are experiencing high congestion which is resulting in huge delays and redirections.
ย
Due to this congestion, some parks are not accepting containers and making it difficult to de-hire containers within the free time.
ย
Stockwell International will continue to endeavour to do our best under these circumstances but will not be held liable for detention fees caused by these issues. Our team is in constant contact with shipping lines to find a solution to this issue and will continue to keep you updated with any information we receive.
ย
If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact your operations person or sales representative.

WORLD NEWS: Sri Lanka in crisis – citizens fearing there ‘is no future’ fleeing the island nation

Due to civil and political unrest and economic crisis, citizens of Sri Lanka are fleeing the island nation.

Currently 5.7 million people are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.

The country of 22 million people has nearly run out of dollars for imports and has defaulted on foreign loans. Inflation of over 50 per cent and shortages of food, fuel and medicines have brough thousands onto the streets in months of protests that culminated in the ousting of the former president.

16 people have reportedly died queuing for fuel since the beginning of the country’s economic crisis.

If you are planning to import or export to or through Sri Lanka, Stockwell International would like clients to be aware of potential delays and congestions as a result of the current political, civil and economic climate in the country.

We send our thoughts, prays and support to our friends, clients, agents and colleagues in Sri Lanka.
