Freight Increases Worldwide
The Maritime Union of Australia has issued notices of protected industrial action for its members employed by Svitzer at the Western Australian ports of Fremantle and Kwinana.
These come after 12 hours of work stoppages at Svitzer operations in Melbourne and Westernport on Friday.
The newly announced protected industrial action in WA involves two 24-hour work stoppages, one on Thursday 15 July and the second on Saturday 17 July. Both are to begin at 0700.For any questions or concerns please contact your sales rep or [email protected]
Omissions
Stockwell International has been advised that because of continued congestion and delays across Far East Asia and Australia ports, there will be more port omissions as per below;
- Maersk Semakau, Voyage 129N / 132S will omit Yokohama, Osaka, Busan, Ningbo and Yantian
- Maersk Seoul, Voyage 130N / 133S will omit Yokohama, Osaka, Busan, Ningbo and Yantian
- Sealand Michigan, Voyage 131N / 134S will omit Yokohama, Osaka, Busan, Ningbo and Yantian
- Tasman, Voyage 132N / 135S will omit Yokohama, Osaka, Busan, Ningbo and Yantian
Mallaysia Total Lockdown
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin announced a nationwide total lockdown in May to battle a surge in COVID-19 infections
The country was struggling to contain a more recent outbreak of the coronavirus driven by more contagious variants
Hospitals across the country, particularly in the Klang Valley, were running close to capacity as the influx of patient arrivals triggered a shortage of intensive care unit beds and staff
Due to this total lockdown the port of Klang has been forced to shut down, with nothing moving until the lockdown is lifted.

Documentary Requirements for Fumigation Certificates
Stockwell International has been advised of an Industry Advice Notice from the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment regarding requirements for fumigation certificates for imported goods effective 2 August 2021.
The revised requirement is:
- A statement confirming that the target of the fumigation conforms to the plastic wrapping, impervious surface and timber thickness requirements at the time of fumigation, as per Appendix 3 of the Methyl Bromide Fumigation Methodology.
Or
- A statement confirming that the target of the fumigation conforms to the plastic wrapping, impervious surface and timber thickness requirements at the time of fumigation, as per Appendix 2a of the Sulfuryl Fluoride Fumigation Methodology

Timber shortage emergency Australia
Australia’s timber shortage is not just hurting builders but is having a “big domino effect” on trades dependent on the construction industry, an emergency summit at South Australian Parliament has been told.The summit “organised by SA Best and attended by key players from the construction and building industries” has been warned about business closures and job losses if solutions are not found.
